Which test were you in. August 5th 19:00
OS Version. Windows XP Home SP3
CPU. AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.61 GHz
GPU. GeForce 8800 GTS
RAM. 2 GB
Average FPS during tests. Around 140 FPS when in space with no-one else around. During 1st battle 0.2 to 8 FPS depending on amount of ships. Second battle better 4 to 20 FPS, I also reduced some settings and cleaned up the overview, that coupled with less ships may have resulted in the increase.
Did you experience any desync issues? Very bad lag in both battles, modules took seconds to respond to mouse clicks.
Did you have audio enabled? Yes, but I was unable to join the fleet channel at the start of the first battle, however after warping out to a safe spot sound returned and I was then able to join, did the same for the second battle and both sound and voice worked fine.
Did you have brackets turned on? No.
Did you use æoptimize settingsÆ? No, but I did disable many of the tick boxes in the settings window before the second fight.
For FW: did you have the kSequencer on or off? Tried both, seemed to make little difference.
For FW: Have there been bugs with the aggression flagging for you? Unable to comment as this was my first experience of battle.
Anything weird happened to you? Unable to join fleet voice until I warped out of the battle. Reason I warped out was because a number of large triangles centred on my ship started appearing and I noticed the GPU fan speed up because of heat build up so warped to be safe.
On a scale of 1-10 how would you compare FPS and performance between this test and TQ? No real experience of battle so cannot make a valued judgement.
Describe your experience; make comments, suggestions, etc. This was my first experience of battle as IÆm a carebear during normal play. During the first battle lag was awful and just sitting cloaked and watching, the screen was juddering in big jumps and spurts.
However after turning down some setting and clearing the overview the second battle became much more enjoyable, also joining fleet voice made it much better as I was then able to sort some resemblance of order from the mess.
The overall experience was not that good because of the lack of instructions on what we were doing or what to do.
One final suggestion could you put in a question on locality, as in the UK we were right in the middle of æPeak TimeÆ for users on-line and many ISPÆs have traffic shaping measures in operation at this time that may influence the outcome of your tests.
